Building skills that hold up in a mobile-first world
Screens got smaller. Expectations got bigger. The gap between designers who understand mobile constraints and those who don't has widened considerably since 2017.
betssilo24 exists to close that gap - through structured, honest learning built around how people actually use devices today.
Development strategy
Three areas we're investing in
The platform grows in three directions simultaneously: curriculum depth, accessibility for regional learners, and practical tooling that reflects real industry workflows. None of these can wait for the others.
Curriculum built around real constraints
Every module starts from a device limitation - touch targets, viewport units, connection speed - and works outward. Theory follows practice, not the other way around.
Low-bandwidth learning paths
Learners in regional NSW shouldn't need a fibre connection to access quality content. Lessons are optimised for variable connectivity without sacrificing depth.
Industry-aligned toolsets
Exercises use Figma, Chrome DevTools, and browser-native APIs - the same stack working designers use daily. No proprietary software, no locked ecosystems.
The people behind the curriculum
Course material at betssilo24 is developed and reviewed by practitioners - people who design for mobile professionally and teach from direct experience.
Priya Okafor
Lead Curriculum Designer
I write lessons the way I wish I'd been taught - starting from the smallest screen, explaining the reasoning, not just the rule.
Dagny Reinholt
Accessibility Reviewer
Every exercise goes through an accessibility pass before it reaches learners. Mobile-first and accessible-first are the same thing done properly.
What we're not trying to do
betssilo24 doesn't aim to be a broad platform covering every design discipline. The focus stays narrow: mobile-first design, done thoroughly, with honest feedback and realistic assessments.
Expanding into unrelated topics would dilute what makes the curriculum useful. Depth over breadth is a deliberate choice, not a limitation.
